Gina began touring during her tween years with her siblings.

Q & A and music. Members of Cane Mill Road are all under 21 years of age and have already played shows from the Southeast: Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas; to the Northeast: New York, New Hampshire, Maryland; to the Midwest: Missouri; and as far away as Argentina and beyond! This is their first trip out west.

  • Flatpicking Guitar - Aaron McCloskey

    Saturday 5:00 pm

Aaron, of Wood Belly, first picked up the guitar in college and began studying jazz, blues, and folk music, but quickly discovered his passion for bluegrass, graduating from the commercial music program at South Plains College in Texas after honing his bluegrass chops with Joe Carr and Alan Munde. Aaron performs solo, with Wood Belly, as well as duo shows with a variety of talented musicians and was featured in the May 2010 issue of “Flatpicking Guitar Magazine” for his work with “Steve Smith and Hard Road”. Aaron lives in Berthoud, Colorado where he can be found hiking, fly-fishing, building tube amplifiers (mcclostone.com) and teaching guitar and banjo at home and the Swallow Hill Music School in Denver.

  • How to Prepare for a Band Contest – Wood Belly

    Sunday 12:30 pm

Winners of the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest, Wood Belly will spotlight their preparation before the contest, play the songs that won them the title, and discuss the reasons for their selections.

  • Mama LongLegs meets Della Mae

    Sunday 1:30 pm

In May 2016, after 6 years of extensive touring (average 220 days per year, to over 30 countries and almost all US states), Della Mae took a break from the road. Each member took time to regroup, to regain footing, and to reflect on what they had just done – individually and together. This reflection revealed what Della Mae has come to mean to thousands of fans, to young girls worldwide, and to themselves. Now, Della Mae is embarking on a new chapter together. Mama LongLegs, who started touring in Utah in 2018 and are poised to spread their music farther and wider, will have a conversation with Della Mae about being an all-women bluegrass/Americana Band on the road, lessons learned and pro tips for success and self-care. The two bands swap songs along the way.

  • Mando Meddling with Mark – Mark Stoffel

    Sunday 2:30 pm

Mark, of Chris Jones & the Night Drivers will demonstrate how right-hand discipline will add a whole new spark to your playing. You will be surprised! Since Mark got a mandolin for Christmas in 1979 (40 years ago!) in his native Germany, his life has been dominated by music. He’s been playing with Chris Jones & the Night Drivers for twelve years, adding his trademark mandolin style to the band’s distinctively contemporary sound. In his spare time he likes to play with his kids, cook food, and drive his tractor.

Ogden Music Festival Workshops

Each year the Ogden Music Festival provides exciting opportunities for experienced as well as aspiring musicians to learn from our perfomers.

Workshops, a tradition since the first OFOAM Festival, provide an intimate environment to get a closer look at the main-stage performers, their instruments and techniques.  Learn from the unique collaborations of festival artists about band dynamics for all ages, instrument playing, songwriting, vocals or just see and hear more of your favorite band.
