A message from Michelle Tanner, OFOAM Executive Director
A quick message as we move forward with the Ogden Music Festival in less than two weeks. Thanks to all the music lovers and OFOAM supporters for hanging in there! We have a commitment to the safety of ALL our participants - our musicians, team leaders, volunteers and festivarians.
Currently, Weber, Davis, Salt Lake counties, among others, fall in the High Level Transmission category according to case rates, positivity rates, and ICU utilization. This is concerning.
How do we have a safe event? Nine months ago, my rose-colored glasses envisioned a fully vaccinated community ready for the Ogden Music Festival. We aren’t quite there yet, so it is important that we take measures to protect each other.
I am aware of similar festivals and concert venues who are requiring proof of vaccinations or negative tests within 24-48 for admission. At OFOAM, youth are the heart of our organizational mission, and they don’t have a choice on whether or not to receive the vaccine. We won’t be requiring proof of vaccination or a negative test, but we are counting on you to help us protect our young ones. We will be taking extra precautions for the safety of our touring musicians as their very livelihood depends on staying safe and healthy on the road, requiring vaccinations and masks with our backstage hospitality and stage crew, and social distancing or masks when artists are at our workshop stage and jam camp.
We will continue to follow recommendations from our state and local leaders. Remember, getting vaccinated will help keep you, your family, and your community healthy and safe.
Here are a few of the suggestions from coronavirus.utah.gov:
- Stay home if you’re sick or have symptoms of the coronavirus
- Avoid congregating in common areas - Maintain small group sizes
- Support social distancing by giving others at least six feet of separation
- Wear a mask when you are not able to distance
- Wear a mask if you are not vaccinated
- Consider those around you who are at higher risk for severe illness or may not have been vaccinated - Be kind
- Wash hands often
Cheers to a fun filled festival weekend with all the best in Americana and bluegrass music at the Ogden Music Festival!
