The Dia de los Muertos at the Monarch Organizing Committee is seeking the assistance/engagement of our local community for the Ofrenda we will be setting up at the Monarch for Dia de los Muertos. This year’s Ofrenda will be dedicated to the memory of family and friends we have lost to the terrible COVID-19 pandemic.
Day of the Dead Ofrendas are dedicated to remembering and honoring deceased friends and family. Ofrendas help guide the spirits back to the land of the living on the Noche de Muertos on the night of November 2nd.
We are seeking the community's help to make this dedication a special memorial for those who are no longer with us. We are seeking picture frames with pictures of any community member lost to COVID or a family member lost to a community member because of COVID. You are also welcome to bring an item that was special or was frequently used by the loved one who is no longer with us. We will use these pictures and items on our principal Altar the entire week of November 1st. You are also welcome to submit a photo through our submission form below. We will use these pictures for our video presentation during our event honoring our loved ones. Our deadline for submission is October 28, 2021.
In addition, we will have limited tables available for anyone in the community to come in and set up their own personal altar for the week. Because of fire code, please do not use candles with open flames. Any candles should be LED type. Thank you for your cooperation.
We ask that at the end of the week, you please pick up your items from the Ofrenda itself. We are required to have all of the altars cleared no later than 10 p.m. on Friday, November 5th. If there are any items left behind, you can reach us at . We will respect, take care, and safely return the item back to you.
Please complete the following form (one for each person you wish to honor) if you are interested in participating so that you can register your items to ensure they are safely returned to you. Please include your name and phone number on each item left on the Ofrenda.
Thank you for being a part of this special tribute.
